Mālama Manō: ‘Ike Kūpuna and Artificial Intelligence
Monday/Thursday
4 - 5pm HST
Haumāna will team up with a National Geographic research team working to learn from and better understand the sharks of the Hawaiian Islands. We will explore the lessons that manō and other marine creatures can teach us, and how we can use a combination of drones, artificial intelligence and insights from the ancestors to better kilo and mālama our ocean home.
From September 15 to October 6 you’ll virtually come aboard the E/V Nautilus research vessel and tune in for live updates from aboard the ship.

Haumāna will learn the basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, all the while being able to customize a mad libs template to make their own! We hope you will join us on September 16th from 6-7:00 PM

Haumāna will learn a simple JavaScript program that maps their digital artwork to real time motion via webcam.

Pā'ani me ka Python
Pā’ani me ka Python will teach haumāna the basics of Python programming language over the course of 4 weeks. Haumāna will be able to create simple games and understand basic programming concepts by the end of the course. We hope you’ll join us every Monday and Thursday in September!
Minecraft Wāhine (Fall I 2022)
Students will need a laptop or desktop computer in order to access Minecraft Education Edition/Minecraft Java. We will be focusing on creative Wāhine Artists.
Aloha ʻĀina Scratch (Fall I)

Augmented Reality: Unity Gaming
Introduction to Unity: a real-time development platform used for game development, augmented and virtual reality, cinematics, and much more! For these summer workshops, we aim to focus on learning the fundamentals of Unity and game development.

"Develop an innovative and collaborative project idea to deepen and grow the genius of our places and communities that will be presented at Kilo Hōkū for the Waiw.ai Challenge, part of Purple Mai'a Future Navigators community program. Through the lenses of place-based, Earth-centered, and biomimetic design, innovation and indigenous culture, we'll explore the biological, ecological, social and cultural stories of regeneration and resilience in our communities. We'll develop prototypes and action plans using 3D modeling techniques, XR technologies, and AI. Haumāna will be able to join existing Future Navigators hui, form their own team, or work independently."

In this workshop, haumana will listen to flora and fungi using sensors and synthesizers. They’ll also compose music from complex datasets, such as rainfall records and coral health tracking.
